Two new titles have recently landed on the shelves of our growing library. A fully updated edition of Jennifer Coutts Clay’s Jetliner Cabins, first published in 2003, has been released in paperback. But this is not your ordinary paperback book: Not only has it more pages and photographs, it’s just as generous in dimensions, making for a handsome addition to your coffee table at the office.
After analyzing the reviews of the hardcover edition, the publisher, John Wiley & Sons, decided to reprint the book in its original form, says the author. “The text and pictures are unchanged, apart from a small number of tiny corrections (mainly related to the punctuation format) and a short mention in Chapter 14/Concorde Unique that the aircraft has been retired from service. To provide added value and to update the work, we compiled a supplement showcasing Next-Generation jetliner cabins—with wonderful pictures kindly provided by the manufacturers: Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier and Embraer. We then reworked the Index to cover the new material and the listing now stands at around 1,000+ items, up from the original 600+.”
Clay continues: “Added content relates entirely to next-gen aircraft [including some VIP transports] and the new pages are more dramatic in style and presentation than those of the original book.” And we agree: 16 richly laid out chapters plus a bibliography, directory of top specialists and the website addresses of numerous airlines, manufacturers and service centers make this book a handy companion.
