HIGH-DENSITY B747 CABINS

CILTNA newsletter marks the retirement of the Boeing 747 fleet by including the article ‘High-Density B747 Cabins,’ written by Jennifer Coutts Clay CMILT, author of JETLINER CABINS.
This is the fourth article in Jennifer’s series of articles about B747 cabin innovations and the integral involvement of Pan American World Airways (Pan Am).

During its half-century of commercial service, the Boeing 747 cabin space proved to be endlessly adaptable when reconfigured by carriers seeking to compete in new markets. Jennifer’s article analyzes the evolution of the 568-seat LOPA (layout of passenger accommodations) on the B747SR (Short Range) variant.

This article was first published in Aircraft Interiors International magazine, in September 2019.
