50 YEARS OF THE 747

As British Airways announces the retirement of its entire Boeing 747 fleet, the CILTNA newsletter marks the significant contributions to aviation of the Queen of the Skies by including Jennifer Coutts Clay CMILT’s article ’50 Years of the B747.

This is the first article in Jennifer’s series of articles about B747 cabin innovations and the integral involvement of Pan American World Airways (Pan Am).

This article celebrates the design elements which made this aircraft truly revolutionary, and describes the contributions of distinguished industry designers and beloved airline brands in making some of the most significant changes to passenger experience in the history of air travel.
